The Shalem Institute
Welcome to the Shalem Institute—dedicated to the support of contemplative living and leadership.
The Shalem Institute provides in-depth support for contemplative
living and leadership—a way of being in the world that is prayerfully
attentive and responsive to God's presence and guidance.
For over 30 years, we have offered a wide variety of programs and resources for spiritual directors, clergy, lay leaders and individuals who want to open themselves more fully to God in their daily lives and work.
At Shalem, we honor each individual spiritual path and welcome anyone who would seek to learn from the contemplative way.

Announcement of Interim Executive DirectorJune 8, 2009 Dear Friends and Supporters, In May, the board of directors reluctantly accepted the resignation of executive director Bill Dietrich, who will be leaving the full-time staff at the end of June. We want to extend our thanks to Bill for his many years of loving and dedicated service—on Shalem's board from 1990 to 2000, teaching and leading programs since 1994, as co-executive director beginning in 2003, and most recently, as executive director since 2006. After a well-deserved sabbatical, we look forward to Bill's continued involvement teaching in Shalem programs. We are pleased to announce the appointment of Leah Rampy as interim executive director of Shalem. A leadership consultant who has worked with a number of non-profits, Leah is a graduate of Shalem's Personal Spiritual Deepening and Deepening Contemplative Leadership programs. She is a retreat leader and lay leader and has served on Shalem's board and chaired the program committee. Beginning later this month, Leah will be in charge of Shalem's day-to-day operations until a new permanent executive director is named in six months to a year.
